Samantha

Brian and Gretchen Erga……In memory of Samantha.  I knew her for only 30 minutes but she was a wonderful German Shepard mix.  While driving Saturday, I came upon a police car with its lights flashing.  As I slowly passed I saw this wonderful dog rolling back and forth in terrible pain; hit and run.  I pulled over and ran to the dog, the offiocer said Animal Services was more than an hour out.  A lady then stopped and tells me of an animal hospital nearby.  I picked her up, put her in my truck and drove to the hospital where I ran in with her in my arms yelling “This is an Emergency HELP.”  We were taken back and an IV was inserted to relieve the pain.  No chip was found, but she had a severe head injury, and severe bone cancer in both front legs.  She needed x-rays, but the cancer would take her in weeks.  I was told the best thing was to put her down, which I agreed to do while I cried.  They asked me to name her, so I named her Samantha.  She crossed the rainbow bridge moments later.  She will be cremated and I will lay her to rest in a safe spot.
